Voice Over Internet Protocol costs less compared to your standard phone service, this is what makes it the cats pyjamas to most clientsRecently I had to have a look at a really wicked write-up in Fortune 500 Magazine and saw that there is a thing called a skype phone spreading over the web .You would be amazed what these two intelligent sparks did to make themselves a small fortune, they sold it to ebay. What am I talking about. It is called voip.It is not a new idea, making long distance calls over the internet for free. Basically then you will be able to chat to whoever you like whenever you like wherever they are in the world and can even see them if you have skipe and a webcam. It is essentail you get a rapid connection as quickly as you can.Video bandwidth does not justify clarity over a slow connection . Ebay the massive auction site is also auctioning skyp phones.Skype is going to be massive from the number of downloads we have witnessed since 2004. Due to Skypes massive success big commercial telephone companies are trying to get a foothold in the marketplace. The question on everyones lips is will it last the distance. Is it here to stay or will it have vanished off the face of the net within 12 months. You can be fairly sure that many start ups will flood the market in the hope of making a killing but it has an established foothold. The govt will undoubtedly see the plusses and want to add money to their coffers by using voip.Skype has to make a dollar or two as well and they do this by billing consumers who phone home to their landlines from their computer. The next big thing which voip are making a bold move towards is the idea of web conferencing. With 911 happenning in the not too distant past more people want to travel less and less so it is a great opportunity for voip to put video conferencing back on the map. We are also seeing an enormous amount of people using audio and video on the web now that download speeds are that much faster.Everything says that audio and video will be the next biggest thing since sliced bread. But one thing is for certain, it's not just hype they're muttering about, and only time will tell if the general public will catch on when they get their free skype download. The question remains will voip take over from the phone.
